Design a baseball jersey for Helmutt, the Worcester Art Museum’s mascot! Mix and match styles, colors, type faces, and other design elements to create one-of-a-kind jerseys. Use your imagination and show your originality! Save your designs and share them with your friends.
While you’re at it, you’ll learn about the kinds of decisions that go into designing a baseball uniform—or a work of fashion. How would you want your team uniform to look? How would you want Helmutt to stand out on the baseball field? How would you design a jersey to wear everyday—or on the high fashion runway?
This design-your-own jersey app was created by a team of students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute to complement the Worcester Art Museum exhibition, “The Iconic Jersey: Baseball x Fashion,” from June 12 – September 12, 2021. About Helmutt:
Helmutt is a life-like model of a German Boar Hound (wearing armor for a dog!), who lives at the Worcester Art Museum (WAM). You may have seen him before, because he spent the first years of his life living at Higgins Armory Museum. When the John Woodman Higgins Collection came to WAM, Helmutt came too!
As the Museum’s mascot, Helmutt’s job is to help introduce kids and their families to WAM’s collection of art and arms and armor, as well as special exhibitions. Learn more about Helmutt at worcesterart.org/events/Helmutt.
